Fall 2015 Marshall University OHV Scholarship

Applications due August 7th, 2015, Classes begin August 24th. NOHVCC is once again proud to administer a scholarship for a semester of the Marshall University OHV Recreation Management program. The fall semester OHV Recreation Management courses are PLS 450/550: Introduction to Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation; and PLS 452/552: Construction of OHV Trail Systems. The information in these courses can be invaluable for both agency personnel as well as enthusiasts. The winner of the scholarship will be able to choose 1 of the 2 offered courses for this fall’s semester. This semester’s scholarship is being offered by the Right Rider Access Fund. The applications are due in the NOHVCC office on August 7th. NOHVCC will review the applications and choose a winner in the shortest amount of time possible. Fall courses begin August 24th. New Jersey Man Dies in an ATV Crash in Stratford

New Jersey Man Dies in an ATV Crash in Stratford ​32 year old Joshua Maguire of Blairstown, NJ died from injuries sustained in an ATV crash in Stratford at approximately 3:00 PM on July 10, 2015.  Maguire was leaving a family camp on Potato Hill Road in Stratford with a friend, on a separate ATV, when he failed to negotiate a turn and went off the road.  Potato Hill Road is also an ATV trail and is maintained as such.  Maguire was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.  New Hampshire Fish and Game along with New Hampshire State Police worked together on the investigation and were able to determine that speed was the major contributing factor to the...

The days program is finalized and we are ready for the Annual Meeting of NHOHVA!

The days program is finalized and we are ready for the Annual Meeting of NHOHVA in Haverhill on April 11 after being revitalized two years ago – are you ready! It is being graciously hosted by the Ammonoosuc ATV Club and the meeting will be at the Horse Meadow Senior Center, 91 Horse Meadow Road North Haverhill New Hampshire. We have a full day of activities planned and enough not only for club officers, directors, and delegates’ to attend but all club members that are interested in the future of their sport. The day will start off at 9:00 AM with the Annual Meeting. Lots of information about this past years activities and future actives will be shared. In addition to our task force activities and state agency updates a proposal for a club insurance program will be discussed, our Government Relations Advisor Richard M. Parsons will present a legislative update and view into the future, and we will be electing our recommendations to the GIA Advisory Committee, along with the election of the officers for the ensuing year. Immediately following the Annual Meeting, there will be three (3) breakout sessions: • Grant in Aid/RTP – having trouble with the what’s, who’s, and where’s – attend this seminar – your life and the trails bureau will be easier! • All about the trail patrol (NHOHVA received a grant for Trail Patrol vests this past year and we have a very ample supply for all to pick up regardless of numbers needed – no need to share anymore!). • Training on the operation of the “Youth Safety Simulator” which is...
